Who Can Enter
1. Entrants must be legal residents of Michigan and a) be in the first through sixth grade in the nominated class at a Michigan school, b) be a teacher of the nominated class of first through sixth graders at a Michigan school, or c) be a parent of a child in the nominated class of first through sixth graders at a Michigan school. Entrants entering online must be 13 years of age or older.
2. Employees of WJBK-FOX 2 (“Sponsor”), Mackinac Island Press, and their affiliates, and the advertising and promotion agencies of each, and the immediate family members of such employees, are ineligible.
How To Enter
1. No purchase is necessary to enter or win. The contest begins when posted on myfoxdetroit.com on October 12th, 2007. All entries must be received by 5 p.m. on November 26, 2007. There are 2 ways to enter.
2. To enter online (13 and above only), access the on-line contest entry form at www.MyFOXDetroit.com. Follow all instructions and complete the on-line contest entry form. Entrants must nominate a class of first through sixth graders at a Michigan school and answer four questions correctly to be eligible to win. There will be a new set of questions each week during the course of the contest. Only one entry per e-mail address, per week. (Notwithstanding the foregoing, the final “week” of the contest will actually be a period of 10 days.)
Sponsor is not responsible for error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operations or transmission, theft or destruction or unauthorized access to or alterations of entry materials, or technical, network, telephone equipment, electronic, computer, hardware, or software malfunctions of any kind, or inaccurate transmission of or failure to receive entry, winner(s) or other contest information by Sponsor or entrants for any reason whatsoever. Sponsor is also not responsible for any injury or damage to any entrant’s or any other person’s computer related to or resulting from playing or downloading any materials in the Contest or for entries that are late, misdirected or incomplete. All entries become the property of Sponsor and will not be returned. CAUTION: ANY ATTEMPT BY AN ENTRANT TO DELIBERATELY DAMAGE ANY WEB SITE OR UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATIONS OF THE CONTEST IS A VIOLATION OF THE CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAWS, AND SHOULD SUCH AN ATTEMPT BE MADE, THE SPONSOR RESERVES THE RIGHT TO SEEK DAMAGES FROM ANY SUCH ENTRANT TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW. Sponsor reserves the right to cancel the contest if it becomes technically corrupted.
3. To enter by mail (any age), print out the contest entry form (available online at myfoxdetroit.com) and follow all instructions to complete the form by hand and mail it to WJBK Fox 2, Paleo Joe Dinosaur Dig Contest, Box 2, Southfield, MI 48037. Entrants must nominate a class of first through sixth graders at a Michigan school and answer four questions correctly to be eligible to win. No mechanically addressed, reproduced, or completed entries will be accepted. Sponsor is not responsible for lost, late, or misdirected mail or for printing errors. All entries received that are mutilated, tampered with, illegible, or from ineligible entrants will be void. There will be a new set of questions each week during the course of the contest. Only one entry per household, per week. (Notwithstanding the foregoing, the final “week” of the contest will actually be a period of 10 days.)
4. One winner will be selected by random drawing from among valid entries (online and mail-in) having the correct answer to all four questions on or about November 27th, 2007.
5. Entrants must have the approval of the teacher of the nominated class and the school principal to win.
The Prize
1. The winner will receive a Dinosaur Dig travel package for use by the nominated class (up to 30 students and 30 adults), to be awarded in the name of his or her (or his or her child’s) school. The travel package includes round-trip transportation from the winning school’s location to Thermopolis, Wyoming, 4 nights’ lodging at the Holiday Inn of the Waters (double occupancy), daily (for 3 days) lunches, and 3 days of dinosaur digging at the Wyoming Dinosaur Center. Travelers are responsible for all travel-related expenses not expressly stated in the prize description, including, without limitation, meals, beverages, gratuities, additional transportation, taxes and surcharges. Travel dates subject to availability and travel must be taken between June 7th and June 28, 2008. Blackout dates and other restrictions may apply. All persons traveling on the trip who are under 18 years of age must be accompanied by at least one adult who is the parent or legal guardian of the minor. The approximate retail value of the prize package is $1,000 per person.
2. The winning entrant will be notified by phone. The winning school will be required to sign and return an Affidavit and Release within 3 days of the date of notification or it will be disqualified. If the teacher and the principal of the nominated class and school do not agree to participate, then that entry will be ineligible and another winner will be selected by random drawing until an eligible class is selected. Each traveler (or his or her parent or guardian for minors) must also sign an Affidavit and Release at least 60 days prior to the trip, or he or she will not be permitted to go on the trip.
3. Except where prohibited by law, entry constitutes permission to use winners’ names and likenesses, and their schools’ names, and hometown, for online posting, and/or any advertising and publicity without additional compensation.
4. Prizes can not be redeemed for cash or substituted for any other items by the winner(s). The winner(s) cannot assign or transfer prize. Sponsor reserves the right to substitute a comparable prize of like or greater value, including cash, for any prize, for any reason.
5. The winning school is responsible for all local, county, state, and federal taxes on prizes based on the value of the total prize package as set forth in these rules.
Odds of Winning Miscellaneous
1. Odds of winning depend on the number of entries received having the correct answers.
2. Complete contest rules are available Monday through Friday during normal business hours at WJBK-FOX 2, 16550 W. 9 Mile, Southfield, MI 48075 through November 26, 2007.
3. For a list of prize winners, send a separate, self-addressed, stamped envelope after November 27, 2007 to: Paleo Joe Dinosaur Dig Winner, BOX 2, Southfield, MI 48037-0002, and at www.MyFOXDetroit.com.
4. This contest is subject to all applicable laws and regulations and is void where prohibited or restricted by law, including without limitation, in jurisdictions requiring registration, filing, trust account, or posting of a bond, or any other requirements or disclosures that are not expressly satisfied by these rules.
5. By entering, participants represent that they are eligible, and agree (a) to be bound by these rules and the decisions of the judges, (b) to release Sponsor, its parent, subsidiaries, affiliates, directors, officers, employees, and agents from any and all liability for any injuries, losses, or damages of any kind caused by any prize or resulting from acceptance, possession, use, or misuse of any prize, and (c) to Sponsor’s use of participants’ personal information as described in Sponsor’s Privacy Policy located at www.MyFOXDetroit.com.
